We share the story of our patient Ryan, a business development professional in the field of cybersecurity, who came to see us for treatment in February 2023.
Ryan had experienced a motorbike injury in early 2022 that had resulted in limited shoulder mobility and discomfort. Despite receiving treatment , Ryan was still experiencing limitations in movement and pain that were impacting his daily life and work.
With an injury like a motorbike accident, it’s common for the body to develop compensatory patterns and restrictions in movement that can cause discomfort and limit mobility. Visceral Manipulation can help release these restrictions and restore normal movement patterns, allowing you to move more freely and with less pain.
This is Ryan’s story.
“After a traumatic motorbike experience I ended up injuring my shoulder quite severely, and after a years treatment of biokinetics and physiotherapy I thought I was going to be stuck with my injury forever. I could only move my shoulder to 90 degrees before it started to catch. The treatment was acupuncture, treating the shoulder locally and strengthening the tendons.
Following one session of treatment of Visceral Manipulation, I was able to move my shoulder as never before . What was different in the treatment was that some of the issues were on the opposite side. Trauma to my left ribs was affecting my right shoulder. The way I understand it is the left side of my body was “positioning” to put strain on my right shoulder. I was able to go back to playing padel and able to swim again which is a sport that I enjoy, and the shoulder was not catching anymore.
I am off to Dubai to work on cyber security. It is a new chapter in my life and I just want to say thanks to Joanne for sorting me out before I head my way!”
Bon Voyage Ryan!
Treatment that helped Ryan
Visceral manipulation is a specialized technique that involves the manipulation of internal organs and their attachments to improve their function and alleviate pain and dysfunction.
Medical practitioners often consider learning visceral manipulation for the following reasons:
- Improve diagnostic accuracy: Visceral manipulation can help medical practitioners to identify and diagnose conditions related to the organs and tissues of the body. By understanding the relationship between the organs and surrounding tissues, medical practitioners can better evaluate the source of a patient’s pain or discomfort.
- Enhance treatment options: Visceral manipulation provides an additional treatment option for medical practitioners to help patients suffering from a range of conditions, including digestive disorders, musculoskeletal pain, and respiratory dysfunction.
- Address root causes of symptoms: By treating the root causes of symptoms rather than just addressing the symptoms themselves, the use of visceral manipulation can help patients achieve long-term relief from chronic conditions.
- Improve patient outcomes: By incorporating visceral manipulation into your practice, medical practitioners may be able to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction with their care leading to improved patient retention and referrals.
- Increase knowledge and skills: Learning to practice visceral manipulation can expand a medical practitioner’s knowledge and skills in manual therapy. This can enhance your ability to provide comprehensive care and offer patients a wider range of treatment options.
We offer courses designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the principles of visceral manipulation, including the anatomy, physiology, and practical hands on application.
